As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, individuals and organisations were invited to lead the nation’s tribute to Her Majesty the Queen by lighting beacons at 9.45pm on 2 June 2022. It is estimated that more than 3500 beacons were lit throughout the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, UK Overseas Territories, and Commonwealth countries in recognition of The Queen’s long and selfless service.

The beacons enabled local communities, individuals and organisations to pay tribute as part of the official Platinum Jubilee weekend of celebrations from 2-5 June 2022. Well over 100 were lit In Norfolk where they created visible impact starting the Jubilee weekend in style and in recognition of the close ties and fondness Her Majesty had for this County.

As a special tribute to Her Majesty The Queen a brand new ‘Song for the Commonwealth’ was commissioned to be sung by choirs in all 54 Commonwealth countries at the same time as the lighting of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons on June 2nd 2022. The song was also used at other celebratory events including A Royal Salute at the Royal Norfolk Show. The words can be found here:
